This year’s calendar highlights a series of exciting cultural events leading up to the grand celebration of Garifuna music, food, and traditions in Punta Gorda Town, Belize. Whether you’re a student, supporter, or visitor, the calendar helps you keep track of every moment that makes this festival one of the biggest cultural celebrations in the region.

🔑 Key Updates for 2025

We’ve made a few important changes to this year’s calendar of events:

• 📌 High School Battle of the Drums will now take place on Friday, October 31, 2025, in Belize City.

• 📌 Primary School Battle of the Drums moves to Friday, November 7, 2025, in Punta Gorda.

• ❌ The Ms. Yurumein Contest has been canceled for 2025.

These adjustments ensure smoother scheduling and a better experience for all participants and attendees.

• October 31, 2025 – High School Battle of the Drums
  Witness the talent and energy of students from across Belize as they showcase their drumming skills and cultural pride.

• November 7, 2025 – Primary School Battle of the Drums
  Our youngest drummers take the stage in Punta Gorda, ensuring that Garifuna culture is passed on to the next generation.

• November 9, 2025 – Mass of Thanksgiving & Service Day
  A day of unity, community service, and gratitude starting with a Garifuna mass at St. Peter Claver Church.

• November 13, 2025 – Primary Schools Garifuna Translation Contest
  Students test their skills in translating from English to Garifuna, preserving and promoting the language.

• November 14, 2025 – Food & Fete
  Kick off the festival weekend with Garifuna cuisine, music, and entertainment in Punta Gorda.

• November 15, 2025 – 20th Annual Battle of the Drums Competition & Show + Belize Garifuna Musical Festival
  The main event! Watch groups compete across five categories of Garifuna drumming, followed by live performances lasting until dawn.

• November 16, 2025 – Love FM Paranda Show
  A live radio broadcast from Garbutt’s Marine in Punta Gorda featuring traditional Paranda music.

• November 19, 2025 – Yurumein & Garifuna Mass
  Re-enactment of the Garinagu’s arrival in Belize, followed by a thanksgiving mass and community celebration.
